PROMO TIME FOR MATT AND KATIE PHOTOGRAPHERS

Last year we headed down to Toowoomba for a few days to spend with Matt and Katie who I’ve known for a few years now. They have been shooting weddings together but the Potraits part of the business was still under the old business name so to make it simple for them and everyone else they have decided to merge it all to one Matt and Katie Photographers and so thats where we came in and Matt approached me to put together a promo film for them.

M and I had such a blast capturing the amazing locations and the beautiful kids and parents. There was so many good shots but working closely together with Matt as he himself used to be a video producer came up with something that reflects their business and who they are as photographers.

BYFIELD & ROCKHAMPTON WEDDING: SELINA & GRANT // Hideaway

They met in Longreach at the Charity Variety Bash with a bit of intervention by some oldies, and with the persistence of Grant they eventually got together and their love story blossomed from there on.

Selina & Grant’s wedding day was very much in the theme of the forrest and beautiful Ferns Hideaway in Byfield was the perfect location. Holding the ceremony by the creek, mother nature was kind enough to keep the water perfectly still while Selina and Grant exhanged their vows of love and committment.

ROCKHAMPTON WEDDING: KAHLEE & BREANDAN // Love + Fun

It’s like their love cant contain itself, it is always bursting out, from the moment Breandan came home to find a grinning Kahlee, who confessed to finding the secret ring box while cleaning, to Breandan strutting around in his full wedding attire, including shoes and sunnies at 2am the night before the wedding. But perhaps the best example is when midway through the vows Breandan jumped the gun saying “I Do.”, these two just cant wait to spend the rest of their lives together.

Kahlee and Breandan, it was so wonderful to have you guys be the first of my Rockhampton weddings. Your guys were so fun and it was awesome to be able to tell the story of your lives coming together. I hope your future is full of love, happiness and of course lots of fun!

EMU PARK CAPRICORN COAST WEDDING: SARAH & MARCUS // Kiss the Sun

It was just over week after we had packed up our lives in Melbourne and relocated to Yeppoon, that my sister got married. Amongst the influx of interstate guests, the arrival of moving boxes and the last minute preparations for the wedding, it was a hectic time to say the least! At the time my thoughts got lost in the whirlwind of activity, so now I am taking this opportunity to express my happiness on such a awesome event…

Firstly to Marcus, welcome to the Howlett family – I am not sure you realised when you asked Sarah to marry you that you were actually taking on the all of us, but I am glad you have accepted the challenge! You are such a kind hearted, generous and supportive person, Sarah is lucky to have you in her life and so are we. Thank you for making Sarah happy. Every day, I can see in your words, your actions, your eyes how much you love my sister. And the way you have embraced us all is truly appreciated, from accepting my unladylike eating habits, to Dad parading in his y-fronts and the endless lists of handyman jobs from Mum – you are now officially part of our family.

To my sister Sarah, mein Schwest. I love you. Not only for our mutual appreciation for Revenge of the Nerd movies, old fried dimsims and our wicked tag team dance routines, but for the other stuff too. For being a great listener, a positive influence, being up for anything, for embracing the crazy! I know I can always rely on you, for the serious stuff and for the silly stuff too! You are a beautiful person, a wonderful sister and a great friend. I am so glad you have found Marcus, I know you two will create a wonderful life together and we are so grateful to be able to part of it.

GEELONG WEDDING: JAYE & XAVIER // Found Something Perfect

Jaye and Xavier met at a live gig. They got talking and found a mutual appreciation for music, in particular Pearl Jam. After that they spent time together, often in queues for tickets or in lines for the best spot at the concert. They stood side by side in the front row and sang their hearts out. Along the way, the lyrics became more than song words, they turned into memories. Memories of how a passion for a band has turned into a true and deep love and devotion to each other. In music they found each other, and in each other they found something Perfect.

MELBOURNE WEDDING: SHEILA & JAMES // A Joining of Familes

In the background of a busy Friday afternoon in the city, there was two families meeting and sharing afternoon tea in the prestigious Langham Hotel. This is where we saw how important family was to Sheila and James. This moment was the joining of two families and although many were meeting??for the first time, their was an air of warmth and love in the room which would lead to a beautiful and intimate wedding day on the Saturday.

On a bright Autumn day, James was hanging out with the boys and in a fairly relaxed mood to get going with the ceremony but there was still a little bit of nerves. Sheila on the other hand was getting right into the day, full of smiles and having a bit of good time getting the dress on. ?As the ceremony evolved, it was full of laughter and teary eyes.

By the end of the day Emily and I felt like we were part of their family. The sentiments and descriptions of what their family were saying of how generous and caring Shelia and James are we witnessed first hand. Their love not only important to them, but this love extends to their families and to who ever they meet.

MELBOURNE WEDDING: CHAREM & LEVENT // A Day of Celebration

From the moment Charem appeared at the top of the steps, no one noticed the weather – least of all Levent. The dark clouds that had threatened all day had final burst open with rain right before the ceremony was to start, but nothing could dampen the mood of joy and romance as Charem and Levent married each other in the garden of Ascot House.

Despite the lack of sunshine, the day was bright with fun and excitement, from the groom arriving in the morning to claim his bride, right up to the moment at the end of the reception when they clasped each others hand and ran through a sea of cheering guests into a waiting car.

The song and this highlight remind us that the real sunshine in our life comes from those around us who brighten our lives with their warmth and love.

WEDDING CINEMATOGRAPHERS WORKSHOP SYDNEY: EDU // A Week of Education and History in the Making

In the past week I have been attending a huge event both for my self but also for the industry. I had the pleasure of being part of the organising team for Exposed Down Under – which was a conference for wedding filmmakers for the first time ever in Australia. The aim was to bring together around 50 producers around the country and internationally and invite some of the best wedding film makers around the globe to present various things covering both from the business side and the production side.

To us it is very important that we continually evolve and ensure that we are at the top of our game but also to strengthen our industry and give the opportunity to educate and make new connections. During the event I had the lucky task of blogging (www.exposeddownunder.com.au) and also capturing some footage which then I had only a few hours to put together to be shown on the same day. It makes me feel proud to have been part of it and also to make something for us to remember by.

YEPPOON SHOW TIME // It’s Show Time!

As we have finally settled in to our new home I decided to go along to the annual Show in Yeppoon with M, Sarah, Marcus and Paris (who’s story you are about to watch). There is plenty of fun to be had so couldn’t resist and took the camera along. I thought it would be wonderful to tell the story from the child’s perspective and something I would have experienced when I was younger. There was so many things I filmed but I wanted this to cover things that would capture childhood experiences and the song was too cute not to use!

Samantha & Emir Highlight

Our time with Samantha and Emir have come full circle – from their Save the Date video shot in October, to the trailer of their Valentines Day wedding and now we are excited to present their wedding highlight video. We have loved being able to capture the laughter and love these two share and a hopefully you can see it too in the highlights video.
