Their day was destined to be beautiful, the ceremony in the botanical gardens, weather was perfect. But could everything go as planned? Nat and Kenny were super fun couple to be with and we made a little tongue in cheek trailer of something that happened just before the ceremony which I am sure they’ll have a good laugh at now.
Jaye and Xavier met at a live gig. They got talking and found a mutual appreciation for music, in particular Pearl Jam. After that they spent time together, often in queues for tickets or in lines for the best spot at the concert. They stood side by side in the front row and sang their hearts out. Along the way, the lyrics became more than song words, they turned into memories. Memories of how a passion for a band has turned into a true and deep love and devotion to each other. In music they found each other, and in each other they found something Perfect.
In the background of a busy Friday afternoon in the city, there was two families meeting and sharing afternoon tea in the prestigious Langham Hotel. This is where we saw how important family was to Sheila and James. This moment was the joining of two families and although many were meeting??for the first time, their was an air of warmth and love in the room which would lead to a beautiful and intimate wedding day on the Saturday.
On a bright Autumn day, James was hanging out with the boys and in a fairly relaxed mood to get going with the ceremony but there was still a little bit of nerves. Sheila on the other hand was getting right into the day, full of smiles and having a bit of good time getting the dress on. ?As the ceremony evolved, it was full of laughter and teary eyes.
By the end of the day Emily and I felt like we were part of their family. The sentiments and descriptions of what their family were saying of how generous and caring Shelia and James are we witnessed first hand. Their love not only important to them, but this love extends to their families and to who ever they meet.
From the moment Charem appeared at the top of the steps, no one noticed the weather – least of all Levent. The dark clouds that had threatened all day had final burst open with rain right before the ceremony was to start, but nothing could dampen the mood of joy and romance as Charem and Levent married each other in the garden of Ascot House.
Despite the lack of sunshine, the day was bright with fun and excitement, from the groom arriving in the morning to claim his bride, right up to the moment at the end of the reception when they clasped each others hand and ran through a sea of cheering guests into a waiting car.
The song and this highlight remind us that the real sunshine in our life comes from those around us who brighten our lives with their warmth and love.
When we met Samantha and Gavin last year to book their wedding film, they had one important request – please try and film our teenage kids enjoying the day! You would think it wouldn’t be too hard a task since all four were in the bridal party, but the as you will see in the highlight we had to do some stealth filming to capture the boys!
Our day started visiting Samantha where she was getting ready at their family home, and she couldn’t have been a more relaxed bride! However, just down the road at the beautiful Barwon Grange historic house the scene was a little more hectic, with Gavin and the boys rushing around to get the ceremony location decorated in time,
Everyone gathered on the lawn to witness the loving and emotional vows exchanged by Samantha and Gavin and afterward family and friends descended on Sailors’ Rest at the Geelong Waterfront, to enjoy a wonderful evening of fun, food and laughter, with Samantha & Gavin topping off the night with a original musical melody wedding dance!
Sam & Gav have enjoyed a relaxing honeymoon sans kids in Thailand, but I know they are keen as mustard to see some footage of their wedding day so we are pleased to be able to give them their highlight a little early and hope it is a good appetizer to the main film feast which is still to come!
Lauren and Darren were super easy going and just reveled the day this in turn made it such a fun time shooting which really helped as I was shooting solo which was a little scary as I hadn’t shot solo for quiet a while. I really liked the vintage theme throughout from the dress to the cool low rider.
I gotta mention Paul from Icon Pictures again as he picked some awesome locations which really suited the whole feel of the day and I know Lauren and Darren were really happy with the images he captured.
I wish all the best to you guys and thanks for letting me being there to capture your day!
I love how Chinese tea ceremonies give the parents and other family members a chance to really be involved in the wedding. They can take a moment to bless the couple and give them words of love and encouragement, it is such a great tradition to have part of weddings. Plus the beautiful reds and golds, the offerings and the incense really add to the sense of culture and history that these couples are part of.
Josh & Vivien’s was one such wedding. With two tea ceremonies, a civil ceremony, a drive out to Emerald Lake and a nine course reception dinner, they were in for a big day, but both of them were so relaxed for the start and ready to enjoy each moment. Although Josh may have felt the pressure when Vivien’s bridesmaid’s set him a tough challenge before he was allowed to enter the house!
I must say a special Thank You to Josh & Vivien for including us in the nine course dinner, we were very spoilt to be able to try shark fin soup, quail and lobster and it really made us feel part of their wedding day.
A week ago I finally got to shoot this save the date which I’d been planning for a while, I have been looking for new ways to shoot these short and sweet videos to capture even more of our couples personalities, and what awesome and perfect couple Jaye and Xavier was for this! To introduce them, they are massive Pearl Jam fans and I mean real fans. Pearl Jam recently did a tour around Australia and they went to almost every one of their concerts, and it didn’t finish there, then they hoped over to New Zealand to see them one more time – pretty cool!! On top of that they love music with a passion. So I came up with a concept that would incorporate both their wedding planning and also Pearl Jam. I am so glad we finally got to shoot it as I have been itching to get this on tape. So I won’t ramble on any more, and cheers for Jaye and Xavier letting me get creative Hope you guys enjoy it!
