Mid last year we ventured up to Airle Beach to experience an amazing four days of shooting that included helicopters, seaplanes, secluded islands, tropical forests and last but not least, a great bunch of people we got to work with.

We were contacted by Norina Jane, who was in the process of rebranding her Whitsunday wedding photography business to Iconic Bride Photography, and asked us to create a film that captures the new brand visually through a promo film and also create a profile film which would allow potential clients to get to know the team better and their philosophy.

To do this, we needed an iconic bride and luckily we had the wonderful Rae Johnson to work with! You may have seen Rae hosting the new computer games show on ONE HD called Save Point. She was such a blessing to work with, so professional and made the shoot that much more fun. Of course we can’t leave out the “groom” John,  although not playing as pivotal role in the production (it is after all Iconic BRIDE Photography!), he made the shoot a lot of fun to work with.

Also along the way we had some help from Justin Heitman (Blue Turtle Video Design), who gave me lots of tips from his own extensive experience of shooting from the helicopter supplied by Heli Biz, but of course without the precise control of our pilot Des Davy I would have never got those great sweeping shots of the plane and the islands As you can probably tell, I loved shooting from the chopper!! Also can’t forget to mention the classic seaplanes you see in the films that were supplied by Air Whitsunday, not only did they give us a ride over the magnificent Whitsunday islands to our locations, featuring their plane in the promo really took the film to the next level of awesomeness!

We were so fortunate to be able to shoot at Whitehaven Beach and Langford Island, and of course Villa Botanica. We must say thanks to the staff at Villa Botanica who were so welcoming and accommodating – and any brides looking for an absolutely stunning venue to get married, you have to check out Villa Botanica, Airlie Beach! The venue itself is super stylish, but the surrounding gardens take this place to the next level – it is a truly magical place!

And of course, the team behind Iconic Bride Photography were such a pleasure to work with and had lots of laughs during the whole shoot. For Emily and I it has been one experienced we won’t forget, so thank you for Iconic Bride Photography for allowing us to share this journey with you. Luke love of his Commodore is so strong, it was even incorpated into his marriage vows! Given this, it is no suprise that Luke and his groomsmen spending the morning of his wedding day with the pedal to the metal on the gokart track at Kenrose Park. Angela, on the other hand, used her vows to give Luke a heads up on what to expect in their married life together, which caused much amusement for the gathered guests! And to top the night off, they had an illuminated dancefloor which really set the party mood and Angela and her guests danced the night away!

The internet was a godsend to Lizzy and Eric when planning their wedding – they had spent many years studying in Perth, but Lizzy was trying to organise their special day from home in Indonesia. As fate (or Google!) would have it, Lizzy stumbled across our website and contacted us about covering her wedding in Western Australia. So in August I made the journey across the country to be part of Lizzy and Eric’s wedding in the beautiful Margaret River region south of Perth. Their day was a wonderful, relaxed family affair with a great mix of eastern and western wedding traditions and the Laurence Wines provided so many amazingly locations as the backdrop to the start of their marriage.

Sarah and Steve pulled out all the stops for their wedding at Rosslyn Bay Resort, with the bride arriving to their beach ceremony in a state of the art limousine and the groom arriving in a procession of trucks. We also had the pleasure of working along side amazing wedding photographer Marcus Bell of Studio Impressions, who worked his magic around Keppel Bay Marina.

David’s parents place might have felt a bit empty after David moved out with Hollea, but it was full to the brim on a gloriously sunny winters day when family and friends gather in the Whitings backyard to witness Hollea and David make it official.  And their beautiful daughter Poppy was there to share the moment, as her Mum and Dad declared their love for each other and their promises for the future as a family.

The families converged on Roslyn Bay Resort for the weekends celebrations, and while Ryan was unfortunately a little under the weather, his bride to be Sarah more than made up for it with her bubbly personality and positive enthusiasm for the day! Their positive energy could be felt by everyone, and they injected fun into all parts of their day -especially their twist to the traditional bridal waltz!

M and I had such a blast capturing the amazing locations and the beautiful kids and parents. There was so many good shots but working closely together with Matt as he himself used to be a video producer came up with something that reflects their business and who they are as photographers.

Our first post of 2011 is the lovely Amberley and James! On the auspicious date of the 10th of the 10th 2010 (10/10/10), Amberley and James got married on the beautiful foreshore outside Manta’s on the Beach at Cooee Bay, Yeppoon. With a light breeze coming up from the ocean and shaded under the canopy of a beautiful old tree, Amberley and James exhanged their vows of love and committment, surrounded by family and friends.

We hope their wedding date brings them a little extra sprinkle of good fortune in their lives together!

Selina & Grant’s wedding day was very much in the theme of the forrest and beautiful Ferns Hideaway in Byfield was the perfect location. Holding the ceremony by the creek, mother nature was kind enough to keep the water perfectly still while Selina and Grant exhanged their vows of love and committment.
